For my BAWP ISI one-hour teaching demo, I presented “What’s Water? Autoethnography as Liberating Pedagogy,” describing my new Discovery-based teaching techniques and instructional materials for anti-racist, student-honoring practices, used in my CWR1A and CWR4B courses (at the time being developed for CWR4B). The demo slide deck is viewable here, or here as a video of the slide deck.
My BAWP ISI 2022 teaching demo is now under revision to be presented at Columbia University, Teacher’s College, as Autoethnography Workshop on May 4, 2023, invited by Bay Area Writing Project ISI Leadership Team leader Trey Keeve, also an EdD candidate at Columbia, author of Southern Migrant Mixtape (Nomadic Press, 2018), Director of the Association of Black and Brown Writers 2015-2023, recipient of the Zora Neale Hurston Award/ Naropa U. 2012, the PEN Oakland Awardee 2019, and formerly an educator in the Oakland public school system.
